Catherine Margaret Ashton, Baroness Ashton of Upholland, PC

Catherine Margaret Ashton, Baroness Ashton of Upholland, PC (born 20 March 1956) is a British Labour politician who is currently serving as the European Trade Commissioner; formerly, she served both as Leader of the House of Lords and Lord President of the Council.

On 19 November 2009 Ashton was named as the first High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

Catherine Margaret Ashton, Baroness Ashton of Upholland (* 20. März 1956 in Upholland, Lancashire) ist eine britische Politikerin (Labour Party). Seit 3. Oktober 2008 ist sie Handelskommissarin der Europäischen Kommission. Außerdem ist sie Mitglied des britischen Oberhauses (House of Lords) sowie des Privy Council, ihre Mitgliedschaft dort ruht jedoch während ihres Mandats in der Kommission. Am 19. November 2009 wurde sie vom Europäischen Rat für das Amt des Hohen Vertreters der EU für Außen- und Sicherheitspolitik nominiert.
