Opera Ball in Vienna
"Austrian socialite Richard Lugner, who invites a star or starlet to accompany him to the ball every year, ended months of speculation Wednesday when he unveiled US strip star Dita von Teese, ex-wife of shock-rocker Marilyn Manson, as his guest."

Dita Von Teese will attend Vienna’s prestigious Opera Ball this month as the guest of an Austrian businessman.
Richard Lugner – a real estate and construction mogul, 75, who takes a celebrity to the glamorous gala every year – said Wednesday that Von Teese, ex-wife of goth rocker Marilyn Manson, will attend the ball with him Jan. 31.
Lugner’s past guests include Paris Hilton, Carmen Electra, Pamela Anderson and Sarah Ferguson.

Marilyn Manson's ex-wife Dita Von Teese is set to accompany European entrepreneur Richard Lugner to Austria's glitzy annual Opera Ball.
The sexy burlesque dancer will be Lugner's special guest at the event, which will take place at the State Opera House on January 31.
And Lugner, 75, admits Von Teese was his daughter's choice of guest.
He says: "After going to Marilyn Manson's concert, my daughter begged me for days to invite her."
Previous guests of Lugner's include socialite Paris Hilton, Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, actresses Pamela Anderson, Andie MacDowell and screen siren Sophia Loren.
Marilyn Manson ex Dita Von Teese will attend the Vienna Opera Ball later this month. No, she won't be on the arm of some goth musician — she'll be there as the special date of Richard Lugner, a 75-year-old real estate and construction mogul. Lest Von Teese feel special, Lugner's past dates include Paris Hilton, Carmen Electra and Pam Anderson. He gets around!

US strip star Dita von Teese will shine and shock at this year's Vienna's Opera Ball, Austria's annual society highlight, much to the likely chagrin the high-brow event's organizers. The model and ex-wife of shock-rocker Marylin Manson will be guest of notorious Austrian socialite and builder Richard Lugner. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Lugner said his teenage daughter had begged him to invite the burlesque queen to the ball, which takes place on January 31.
The Austrian builder traditionally invites a star or starlet to accompany him and his current partner to the event held at Vienna's prestigious State Opera, with prices ranging from 230 euros for a simple ticket to 17,000 euros for a box.

Naja, also nach einem kurzen Blick in die internationalen Medien wird klar: Keine Berichterstattung über den Opernball ohne Richie's Tittenstars.
Vienna's opera houses, theatres boost Austrian economy
State-funded opera houses and theatres are frequently slammed as elitist establishments that guzzle millions of euros of valuable public money each year.
The 133.6 million euros in annual subsidies provided the three houses more than paid off, with the state pocketing a total 214.3 million euros, indirectly and directly, from tax revenues and social welfare payments, IHS calculated.
